How it works: FuelEU Maritime uses a reference of 91.16 gCO₂e/MJ (Well-to-Wake) with a 2% annual reduction starting 2025. For 2026, the target is 91.16 × (1 − 0.02) = 89.34 gCO₂e/MJ. Penalties apply at €645/tonne CO₂e for emissions exceeding the target intensity across total energy consumed.
